Amahoro

Amahora means peace.  This word is used as a greeting among the Batwa of Burundi.  It is interesting to me that a people who have been rejected by their countrymen, oppressed by their government, and considered outcasts in their society would use such a word to greet one another. Peace they wish for one another. Peace they wish for their children.  Peace they wish for their country.

Some of you have been praying for a group of 32 people from Community of Faith who are in Burundi, Africa this week.  I read an update today from our group and I was moved to tears as I realized that God is doing the very thing that the Batwa dream of - He is bringing peace and hope to a forgotten people!  Please visit www.communityforburundi.org (or click on Community For Burundi on the right side of this page) to see pictures and read what God is up to in Bujumbura, Burundi this week!

"Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said, 'God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is given to you.  God blesses you who are hungry now, for you  will be satisfied.  God blesses you who weep now, for the time will come when you will laugh with joy.  God blesses you who are hated and excluded and mocked and cursed because you are identified with me, the Son of Man.'"  Luke 6:20-22

Update on my mom:  Many of you have prayed for my mom since she broke her arm at Ashley's graduation.  Thank you so much!  She is doing well.  The arm is immobilized and healing well. Thank you for your prayers for her continued healing.
