Please pray!

TMI Alert:  The following post may contain more information than
you ever wanted to know.  Please proceed with caution...

As you know, radiation is a form of controlled burning.  The
tissues that are radiated end up very irritated and inflamed.  I'll let you put two and two together and figure out which of my tissues are irritated and inflamed. Another side effect of radiation is itchy skin.  I have a serious case of it!  Sometimes it is so bad that it wakes me up in the night and I think I am going to die!  LOL!  The doctor gave
me some cream to use and it helps a little, but not much.

So, please pray for relief from these things: itching, pain and inflammation.  I have two more weeks of chemo and radiation and I have been told that the side effects could last for up to four weeks after I finish treatments.

I was reading my Bible before I left for church this morning and I
read this verse in Isaiah 52:12, "But you will not leave in haste
or go in flight; for the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel
will be your rear guard."  I laughed out loud!  God is my "rear
guard"!  I am praying that he literally will be, and I hope you
will pray the same!  God definitely has a sense of humor!

I love you guys!  I'm sorry if this post was too graphic, but I
thought you guys could handle it!  : )

Thanks for praying!

  2. Likewise...(what Sherry said). I've finally got the courage up to read your Blog up to this point & have just finished. It's great to see God giving you what you need when you need it wether you know you need it or not, especially humor. My family & I are really coming to love each and every one of our extended family at COF with each passing visit. Your courage & vulnerability shared is inspiring. I don't know what else to say but we're praying for you & your family, Bruce, & everyone that is in need of it. I trust God can handle those kinds of tall orders (in his own way of course) & I pray that he can find some way to use me to help :-) The best of health & energy throughout the rest of your treatment. We'll be praying for God to be your r...umm...well we'll be praying for your "needs" to be graciously met!

  5. Laura,
I am thinking of you and praying for you and your family. I found out for the first time yesterday you were diagnosed with cancer when I was working at the foster home. I was dreading all I had to do today until I read your blog this morning. I have nothing to complain about! Thanks for sharing because we all truly care about you.
    Love,

  9. Hey Laura,
I can so relate to your blog today! I have six more radiation treatments left and think it might be better to just go roll over and meet my Maker! Love the scriptures and reminder that things will get better! I am claiming Isaiah 52:12 that the God of Israel will be my "rear guard" too! Thanks for your blog! It gives me so much encouragement!
    In Him,
