How it's supposed to work

I have a friend who recently had surgery to remove her colon and have a permanent ileostomy created. We are ostomates! She is home from the hospital and adjusting to her new life. One of the neatest things for me has been the opportunity to share with her my experience and tips for living with an ileostomy. Not something that I ever expected to be one of my life experiences, but something that I am very grateful for!

God has taken a very difficult situation in my life and used it for good in someone else's life. And that's how it's supposed to work. The difficulties, struggles, and triumphs in our lives are not random. They have been allowed by a loving God and orchestrated to be used for His good purposes.

Today this friend was experiencing the weird muscle cramping that I experienced during my first two chemo treatments. This was a very scary and uncomfortable experience for me, but because of what I lived through, I was able to tell her that she needed electrolytes and to go get Gatorade or Pedialyte and start guzzling it.

And then it hit me. God allowed me to go through that experience so that I would be able to help this friend. How cool is that?!! I am so grateful for what I've been through and how God continues to use it for His good purposes. That's how it's supposed to work.

  1. Hi Laura....I was listening to a song on KSBJ, sorry can't remember the name ....but I have heard it a hundred times, but this time a particular phrase jumped out at me...."when I'm not holding onto you, you are holding onto me" and I just found that so very comforting, even when we "forget" to hold on to him....he is still holding on to us, what an awesome God!! Just wanted to share that with you! You are almost there!!! Praying for you! With much love...Vickie D

  2. Laura, thank you for sharing your life experiences with us as you walk this journey with such grace, courage and humility. Thank you for praying for my sister as she begins her journey. Please pray that she has a form of cancer that is treatable, especially since it is inoperable. Hugs, Jeanne Walker

  3. Of course, I'm not a doctor..tho had breast cancer & treatments. This is just something for you to pray about & seriously consider.
Re:Barley Green... I've started taking it recently; & found it REALLY helpful; as well, in "undiagnosed" side pain I've been having for some time.
But,Laura, best thing I see is repairing of cells.
Just Ask God, He'll let you know.... (There's lots of info on barley green- you really might want to ck this out ASAP; re: chemo/radiation)
Barley Green : Many studies have shown that when green barley juice is added to injured cells, the cells' DNA repairs itself rapidly. This may contribute to preventing the changes that often lead to cancer and cell death.
Really believe GOD wanted me to share this with you. Continuing in prayer for you dear one. GOD IS ABLE!!
    Love, charity.
