Update

Thank you to those of you who prayed for me through the night! I slept and am feeling better this morning. Please continue to pray for strength, a calm stomach, and no dehydration.

I woke up a lot during the night (I'm sure I am nervous), but every time I awoke I had praise music playing in my head - all the songs we sang last weekend! "You Alone Can Rescue" by Matt Redman and Jonas Myrin played over and over:

"You alone can rescue, You alone can save.
You alone can lift us from the grave.
You came down to find us, led us out of death,
to You alone belongs the highest praise!
We lift up our eyes, we lift up our eyes, You're the Giver of life.
We lift up our eyes, we lift up our eyes, You're the Giver of life!"

It was a sweet night!

Word to the Wise: When celebrating the successful changing of the ileostomy bag and appliance, always remember to close the end of the bag. Otherwise you will soon have human excrement dripping on your toes and bathroom floor! Thankfully I was not on the carpet. Lesson learned.

  1. There is absolutely nothing you can not walk through or face. Nothing. You are going to be just fine through the chemo. Keep those praise songs playing in your head.Your 'body' is getting fixed.

May the time fly and may God cover you with His angels as He did for the 3 in the furnace where they felt no pain, no heat, nothing at all.

  2. I know this sounds silly, but I keep seeing the chemo and possible cancer cells as a video game. Like the old time Centipede game. The chemo is the little lazers shooting into space and hitting the targets and the explod into NOTHING! I know this is not a game, but I also know that God will win the battle for you! He is in control!

May a blanket of peace cover you and Mark today!

    Love y'all,
    Paula P.

  3. You have been so amazingly faithful through this whole thing Laura. Again, this is just a moment in time. It's not your life. God has and will continue to be with you, and we are all praying for you! Love you guys!

  4. Word to the wise: It happens...as Dr. Seuss once wrote, "oh the places you'll go". Figuratively speaking, you and the bag (aka your "friend") will go lots of places and learn lots of things before you part ways!

But you CAN do all things with Christ. Adopt that as part of your litany of scripture passages - it somehow has given me a sense of empowerment as I have travelled this journey.
