In Memory of Stacey

“For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways

and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:9

I am reminded today that God's ways are so much higher than my ways, His thoughts so far removed from mine. I know His plans are good, but I don't always understand them.

Stacey (right) on her 39th Birthday last week with her good friend Erica

My sweet friend, Stacey, went home to meet Jesus face-to-face today at 8:30 a.m. I'm pretty sure she is dancing with Him even as I write this! No more tears. No more pain.

Stacey was such a source of strength and inspiration to me as I watched her positive attitude, her unwavering endurance, and her firm faith. Everyone who knew her was blessed by her in some way. She always had a smile on her face. I am thankful to have known her and I look forward to seeing her again one day.

David Needham writes:
"Man was created to be God's ultimate spiritual masterpiece. Created clean as a flawless prism, progressively being facetted more fully to receive, transform, and display the otherwise invisible glories of the infinite God into limitless, visible colors so that all creation might see God."

Stacey was a beautiful example of what David Needham wrote about; using her life to display the glories of God.

Stacey, you will be missed by all who knew and loved you.

Thank you for your faithfulness to pray for Stacey. Please pray now for God's comfort, peace, and strength for Stacey's husband, David, her boys, Beau and Jake, and her family and friends.

I will continue to pray for her family as they grieve. I know GOD will be holding their hands and hearts!

  3. When I saw our picture this morning, I was so touched!
Just like so many, my heart has been crying out for her the past few months, and now I cry out for her precious family.
All through the night, I woke up with sweet songs of worship and praise ministering right to my heart (I thought about how often you speak of this same thing). Brian and I had a friend in from FL last night and we spent many hours talking about the Lord's purposes and how they are higher than ours. We can't understand because we would never sacrifice one of our own for a stranger...much less someone that hates us. No matter how painful in the temporal, His purpose is that all would come to know him. I am comforted to know that Stacey's life story has won many to him and will continue to do so as her legacy of faith lives on!
We are praying fervantly for you. We can't wait to celebrate your final treatment and God's miraculous healing.
Thank you for sharing your life with us!

  4. Hi Laura!
Remember me? Greta--the one time ISC'er from Mexico City. It's a long story how I ended up finding your blog, but I wanted to say hello and let you know that I have been praying for you and your family. Laura Mann had shared with me about your diagnosis, and you come to mind often.

I didn't realize that Anne's brother and his family were a part of ya'lls church. We are praying for them.

We're not so far away from ya'll. My husband and I moved to Brenham at the end of 2006. Maybe we'll try to stop by one day!
    Blessings...
