What a difference a day makes!

What a difference a day makes! I have felt much better today, physically and emotionally. I am still tired but improving. Today I have also experienced tingling of my mouth, lips, and left arm and hand. This is a common and expected side effect of one of my chemo drugs.

I have continued to rest today and to stay out of circulation of the general human population! We are being extra careful to prevent exposure to swine flu or any of the other viruses that are going around Houston. I will have my blood levels checked on Wednesday to see if the Neulasta has done what it's supposed to do. Then maybe I'll venture out to the grocery store! Exciting life, huh?

Ileostomy update: I did give myself a "gold star" today for ileostomy care and maintenance! I was not too excited when the doctor first told me that I would need a temporary ileostomy; but I want you to know that it has not been nearly as dreadful as I first imagined. I am used to having it now and taking care of it has become routine. It's funny how we adjust to new things and then before long they seem to be a normal part of our lives! One of my initial concerns was the possibility of the skin around the stoma breaking down due to leaking digestive enzymes. I am very proud to tell you that my stoma is perfectly healthy, and the skin on my abdomen is intact without a hint of injury! I consider this to be an answer to my fearful prayers and I am thankful that God has taken good care of this!

Faithful Friends: One of the things I am most thankful for is all of you! Your constant prayer and words of encouragement mean the world to me! You give me strength to keep walking this path and I will never be able to repay you. I am trusting that God will bless you for your kindness and faithfulness toward me. Thank you for seeing me through a difficult week. I love and appreciate you all!

  1. I've always been in awe at how most of us human beings can adjust to things and within time it becomes normal. Its an interesting thing!

May today be joyful and full of surprises!

  3. Mark is doing a great job preaching! I am glad he speaks to the people who are divorced. Some have so much quilt. Keep your head held high. God is seeing you through this and He will complete His good work in you!!! I love you, sweet Laura. I pray for you daily.

  4. It was so sad to see Mark without you during his sermon. Although he tries to play it off and act like a macho man I can feel his emotion when he preaches.( or it could have been that it was the first early service that I saw him preach)lol Laura you need to stay strong please! It is ok that you have your down days, but please stay strong, Mark needs you, this world needs you, you have touched so many lives! You continue touching lives with your story with your daily blogs, and most impotant your faith that makes you glow( I know the glow is not the mineral makeup)lol You are helping a friend of mine now with her husband who is battling the same fight. He had not been to church for years, you and the big man(no, not Mark)God, have brought him back, and I hear he is excited about Sundays.Thank you! I don't know him, but she is my co worker/ friend at North Cypress and she is the most beautiful person, never shows her pain at work. She is always compassionate and patient with her patients at work no matter how bad it is at home. I have seen her help a young kid collage kid with a brain tumor walk again when other therapist did not have the patience to go the xtra mile, so thank you for giving her and her family hope and more reason to fight because they know you and God are there for them, even though your going through your own battle. I have been told I talk alot so I will let you take a break, just thank God that it takes me 1 hour to type this, or you would be rebooting you computer!lol Thank you again! p.s. The grocery store is very exciting, thats my outing of the week, all the 10 for 10's at Kroger Love It!
