Mark and I went to see my medical oncologist today. They did the usual weighing, vital signs, and drawing blood, then they put us in the examination room. The doctor came in and immediately made us laugh with his good natured humor. We discussed my recovery and upcoming surgery and then he examined me. As weird as it might sound, I was looking forward to this examination. I finished my radiation and chemotherapy treatments two and a half weeks ago and have spent the last few days wondering if the treatments actually accomplished what we wanted them to do.
He performed the exam and then told us that the tumor HAS SHRUNK!!!!!! I was so excited I nearly kissed the man! The tumor has responded to treatment! God has responded to your prayers! He also said that the surface of the tumor is now smooth, which made him very happy. I think this indicates that it is no longer growing. This is all good news for my prognosis and for my surgery. A smaller tumor means a higher chance of successful surgery to remove it.
After our appointment we stopped by to visit Stacey in the hospital. She looked amazing! Wide awake, smiling, pain under control. The surgeon said her surgery was successful. They removed several lymph nodes and are now waiting for all the pathology reports to come back. Stacey appreciates your prayers. Please continue to pray for her healing and recovery.
"But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do." Psalm 73:28
It was a beautiful day!
